How to Join

Your first step in becoming a Knight is taking the initiative to join.

So what do you do?

Contact a current Knight or membership director and complete a membership application. Application for membership should be made through the council of your choice or online via the Knights Of Columbus website [KofC.org].

Before proceeding, here are somethings you should be aware of & steps we follow for all new applicants.

Determine if you qualify:

In good conscience, make sure that you can answer the following questions in the affirmative.

  • Am I a Catholic gentleman who is in union with the Holy See and who practices the precepts of the Catholic Church?
  • Am I 18 years of age or older?
  • Am I willing to give my time? Your commitment can be as little as a few hours in a year, or as many hours as you’re able to dedicate to charitable work.

Contact a member of the Order to join:

If you don’t know a member, contact our council directly for assistance.

Mailing Address:
Good Shepherd Council No. 8607
P.O. Box 601
Holbrook, NY 11741-0601

Phone:
(631) 913-3136

Fill out the form:

A member of the order will give you an application form that you will need to complete. The form will ask for your address, your parish information, your interest in the organization, etc… Return the form back to the council and it will be reviewed by our membership committee.

The interview & vote:

Our membership committee will host a brief interview with you, and bring your approved application to our next business meeting, so it may be read into record. A vote will be taken & if the motion has passes, you will be accepted into the council.

Following through:

If the council votes in favor of your admission, you will then be scheduled for the next First Degree ceremony. Ask the Knight that you have been in contact with if you should make any specific preparations.

If you have any questions before joining, please speak with any Knight and they will tell you what you need to do to join & answer questions about our council & fraternal origination.

We hope this is something that interests you & to see you at a future council meeting.
