October 2012 Grand Knight’s Message
At the Installation ceremony on September 9, the presentation of Family of the Year was awarded to PGK Fred Luebke and his wife, Mary Jane. Thank you Fred and Mary Jane for your service to our council, the Good Shepherd Parish and our Community.
Nick Guarino received the Knight of the Year Award. I want to thank Nick for his many years of devotion and his continuous service to our council and our mission for charitable activities.
On September 29, Good Shepherd Church is having family day from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM, all are welcome to attend. Our council sets up a children’s game booth and assists with set up, cooking, serving, selling 50/50 raffles, and other tasks as needed. We need brothers to volunteer; those who wish to help please show up at 10:00am.
On October 20, we are holding a social event from 6:30 – 10:00 pm. The event will be an Oldies but Goodies Dinner/Dance and show, in Fellowship Hall. This event will be a 50’s night with a live DJ and an outstanding Elvis impersonator. We need brothers to volunteer; to help with setting up, cooking, serving, selling 50/50 raffles, and other tasks. We will be selling tickets beginning on Family day, and after each mass from September 30 to October 14, limited tickets will be available for sale at the door. Please see the ad on opposite page.
Our council is still seeking to use (rent) a garage to store the donations for our annual Chinese auction. The council would need the space from approximately mid/end of January to March. A date for March 2013 has not yet be selected. The Chinese auction is the main fund raiser for our council, and without holding the auction, we may not be able to remain financially solvent. If you have a garage that we can use (rent) during this timeframe please contact me, at your earliest convenience.
Fraternally, Allen D. Gordon
