August Grand Knight’s Message
My Brother Knights,
As we begin the new Columbian year, I hope we can strengthen our relationship with our brother knights from this council and other councils, the Good Shepherd parish and our community, by living and sharing our principles Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.
I am organizing another social event on Saturday August 25. We have arranged a fishing trip out of Captree Boat Basin. The boat is the Captree Pride; it is an 80’open public fishing boat, it departs at 7am and returns at 12:30pm (5 ½ hours). The cost per person is $45- adult, $42- senior and $24- children under 15. We will be paying on the boat, no prepayment is required. Your family and friends are welcome to attend. If you are interested please contact me or Fred Flad by August 22nd, we only need to know how many are planning to attend, so we can let the boat know how many of us to expect and set up for.
The Installation ceremony for our Officers is scheduled for September 9 in the Fellowship hall from 1-4:00pm. A luncheon will be served after the Installation ceremony. All brother knights, their families, and friends are welcome to attend.
Our council is seeking to use (rent) a garage to store the donations for our annual Chinese auction. The council would need the space from approximately mid/end of October to March when we hold the auction. A date for March 2013 has not yet be selected and approved. The Chinese auction is the main fund raiser for our council, and without holding the auction, we may not be able to remain financially solvent. If you have a garage that we can use (rent) during this timeframe please contact me, at your earliest convenience.
I am still seeking brother knights from our council to volunteer to adopt the fourth Sunday of each month to assist our brother knights in the Donald J. Burns Council at LI Vets Home to attend Sunday service. You would not be committing to every 4th Sunday, just the Sundays you are available to volunteer. We should get there around 10am, and we should be completed by 11:45am. Your family members and friends are also welcomed to volunteer for this much needed and appreciated service for our brother knights. Please contact me to volunteer or if you need additional information.
Fraternally, Allen D. Gordon
